Day 5 and 6, the pups are becoming a little noisier, certainly more mobile, their crawling or actually sort of breast stroke swimming movements are becoming more and more accomplished. When they are hungry, there is a dawn corus, which gets louder and louder until Poppy has to relent, climb back into the whelping box, and patiently feed all her babies!
The pups are gaining weight every day, with the aim, after the first 10 days, that they should double their weight at birth. So far, so good!
We have registered the birth with the Raad van Beheer. All pups will be given a pedigree certificate (stamboom) and a passport. The royal pups are christened as follows:-
