A wonder has been repeated, Poppy has given birth to 8 pups - 4 boys and 4 girls, what a miracle worker Mother Nature is!
The circus began yesterday late afternoon, Poppy was extremely restless, and off her food -the first two signs of going into labour.
Finally the first pup came into the world at 22.22 hrs last night, and the last one just before 2am this morning.
Having been told by the vet that it would be a small litter, this was a mega surprise and bonus big time!
Poppy is a wonderful mother again, second time around maybe even more relaxed and self assured than the first time. She bought all the pups into the world all by herself, with very little help from us.
All the pups are doing well so far.
For 10 days they see and hear nothing. You just hearing contant little squeaking noises, so wonderful!
Each pup was weighed and given a coloured band around its neck so that we can monitor its individual growth and know which one is which!
All the pups weighed between 430 and 480 grams - incredibly healthy for a newborn flatcoat.
Tomorrow we will give all the pups their Royal names....watch this space!
